About Us
Seven Seas, a family owned and operated business, was established in 1977 by the late Phil Cohagan. Phil was one of the pioneers of diving in Louisiana. He had a lifelong dream of owning a full service store catering exclusively to divers and snorkelers. Phil realized his dream in April of 1977 and his family continues his legacy today.
If you are interested in scuba lessons in Louisiana, Seven Seas is the right choice for you. Seven Seas offers instruction under NAUI qualified instructors and staff. NAUI’s motto is “Dive Safely Through Education”. Unlike some programs that offer only pool instruction, NAUI’s comprehensive program incorporates both classroom academic and pool skills insuring that students are confident and competent in their abilities. NAUI’s new eLearning programs offers students the choice between a complete in store instructor guided program or an at home academic learning program combined with an in store pool program. Seven Seas also provides private classes for groups or individuals. These can be given on site at Seven Seas or at your own home.
In addition to our retail store, we are proud to offer scuba gear rental specials. Please visit our store which is conveniently located off of the Essen Lane and I-10 exit to see our wonderful array of Scubapro and other brand name quality products for divers and snorkelers. When taking part in our scuba diving lessons, your safety comes first. Our equipment is on-site and our rental equipment is inspected on a regular basis.
We are also pleased to offer underwater salvaging services. Anyone interested should call Seven Seas for additional details. Please visit our complete website for additional information on our services and products or stop by Seven Seas today for more details
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the Seven Seas family. We believe that scuba diving is a sport that can be shared by everyone, young and old alike. If you have questions or concerns do not hesitate to call.

A love of adventure, travel and the ocean first brought Nancy to the sport of diving in 1977. 45 years later she and her two children, Kimberly and Kelly, carry on the dream of making Seven Seas one of the premier diving facilities in the southeast. Nancy is a NAUI Course Director, a NAUI Instructor, and a NAUI/DAN Instructor and has travelled and been diving throughout the world, is an avid shell collector, loves u/w photography and the people she meets both in the store and in her travels.

Kelly loves kids and is in charge of Seven Seas Summer Scuba/Snorkeling Camps. Kelly recently crossed over as an SSI Instructor in order to incorporate the Scuba Ranger program into the camps. Kelly teaches scuba both at Seven Seas and at LSU through the UREC Department. Kelly is an instructor for the Blue Zoo at the Mall of Louisiana doing Scuba Shows and Discover Dives in the shark tank.
